I’ve just given my first commercial origami lesson using skype, with a young girl from Manchester pictured below (pixellated for privacy). I’d invested in a new webcam and used software to integrate an overhead view with a conventional view, to create a friendlier environment (bottom right of the image). The lesson lasted an hour and we folded a variety of simple designs, for which I sent her diagrams to print out. All in all, a great success and I hope I can find more of this type of work.
That’s really cool! Do you know if other origami teachers do this kind of distance-learning origami lessons?
not that I know of. I did get “courted” by a commercial US teaching company, but they seemed to be really over-charging students, so I declined….
Can you provide some more info on your skype origami lessons ex time and costs
have PMd you….
I am a(very)senior local citizen who would like to try origami. Unfortunately i have a hearing problem so need a face to face situation but cope well otherwise. If you intend having a ‘starter’ session at any time or do a demo somewhere local I would be interested. Starting something new from scratch e.g. computers is difficult without at least a short time when questions can be asked.

Will get in touch…
