I once met Lillian Oppenheimer at a private origami meeting in London, it must have been late 80s, I think.

The Origami USA site has a history of Lillian, who founded the society and was pivotal in establishing origami in America.  The page includes some videos, well worth checking out.

She was a tiny woman, but remarkably alert for her age and quite perplexed as to “why all these attractive young men keep showing an interest in me”. I treasure the photo 😉
